Original Youth is now teaching art full time at our new studio in Keller!

Check it out now: Artful Mayhem Studio!

Behavior & expectations of students:
-be kind to others, have a positive attitude
-listen and follow basic directions (sit down; don’t eat the paint, etc.)
-be carefully creative, tidy after themselves as needed
-children must be fully potty trained.
-share and take turns with others
-participate in classroom activities and discussions

Discipline Policies:
As a general rule, my policy is to inspire creativity and artful exploration.  I will always seek to connect with each
student and foster their learning and participation, but I will not force them to be involved.  Basically, I will work to
interact with and encourage your child, but I can not
force them to make art.
Since our classes are a community; each student is expected to follow basic rules of conduct and manners
regarding their teacher and the other students.
If a situation needs specific discipline, I will address it by first:
-using positive reinforcement to redirect the child; then
-reminding child of expectations and providing options for cooperation
-finally, utilizing time outs.
If your child is constantly disruptive or unruly and it is affecting the rest of the class’s progress,  I will phone you
and ask you to come and pick them up early.  Your child’s daily class fee will not be refunded.

Expectations of Parents:
-Dress children in appropriate 'playtime' clothing for messy art and craft projects.  Provide a craft
smock or apron for your child if possible.
-Arrive 5 minutes early for class, so children can be relaxed and ready when the session begins
-Please take your children to use the restroom and make sure they are not hungry before dropping them off.
-Provide necessary health information for your child and keep Sarah informed of any special needs.
-Be on time to pick up your child.   Always inform the teacher at the start of class if someone other
than a parent will be picking up.
-Address any noted behavioral problems with your child, to redirect towards positive behavior
-Phone or email in advance if your child will need to be absent due to illness, vacation or other
scheduling conflicts
-Promote open discussion with teacher, by corresponding via email during the week to address
any concerns or questions.  Please use this method, as tight class schedules do not allow
extra time for in-depth conversations between classes.

Attendance, Absences & Make-up Classes:
Please let me know ASAP if your child will not attend class.  If an absence is reported prior to class, a make-up
class will be considered.  If prior notice is not received make-ups are not allowed.
If your child's permanent schedule changes, please contact me as soon as you are aware that you have a conflict.
If we are unable to transition your child into another class, the balance of tuition will be refunded, minus a $20 early
termination fee.
